This promo for the Sony PlayStation 3 and its IBM Cell Processor illustrates the PS3’s raw computing power well and makes a compelling case for its potential. Yes, the ad has got its share of hype, but the Cell is snazzy regardless.

Pretty nice ad, but unfortunately it ends with this line, “Which begs the question: with this much brain power, is the Cell Broadband Engine even smarter than you?” Um, Sony? Your question begs this question: When people are trying to decide if it’s smart to spend $700 on your PlayStation 3 system, is it really so bright to even hint that they’re not as smart as your box of plastic? Especially when just $250 buys them a pleasantly ridiculous Nintendo Wii.
