Gamers Reports upgrades their Playstation 3 to a 120 GB SATA hard drive. Great guide.
The hard drive they use is less than $90 from New Egg.
Obviously Sony’s use of standard components in the PS3 is already paying off for their customers. So, for $690 you can have a 120GB Playstation 3. Not too shabby. You still need to start with the $600 60GB PS3 to get wi-fi and the memory card reader built in.

This is one of my biggest praises of the PS3 console. The idea that you can upgrade your own stuff without being treated as a hacker (cough xbox cough).
The fact that neither of the two recently release consoles require you to buy proprietary memory cards is a great thing for gamers.
