OpenArena

OpenArena is a free (GPL) content package for the Quake III Arena engine (with which it comes packaged). Essentially you download and run this 72.8 MB installer and end up with a free first person shooter based on the QIIIA engine. The graphics are not too bad (for free that is) and it supports single

Battlefield 2142

December 18th, 2006 · No Comments

Is Battlefield 2142 a worthy followup to EA Games’ Battlefield 2?

Well, there are some problems. Though it is set on the battlefield of the future, replete with mechs and drones and hover tanks, BF 2142 is not really even a major upgrade to BF 2. It’s more like… Battlefield 2.142.

Red Square Escape

November 3rd, 2006 · 3 Comments

Don’t know who wrote this DHTML and Javascript game, but it’s kind of fun. Called either Red Square or Escape or Escapa.
Click and drag the red square around, avoiding the other moving shapes as best you can. The game ends when there’s a collision.
Nearly everywhere I see this game says “if you make it to

Sudoku Resources

September 4th, 2006 · 2 Comments

The recent Sudoku craze began in late 2004 when Wayne Gould convinced The Times of London to take a chance on a puzzle that had been invented (anonymously) by Howard Garns in 1979 and published by Dell magazines as Number Place. It is a fun action-strategy game, though it’s definitely still beta quality. The game sports

Ghost Recon Buggy Warfighter

June 6th, 2006 · No Comments

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the PC is a fantastic game. Fantastic, that is, until it freezes.
I have consistently run into problems with the graphics freezing while the game continues. The latest update (1.10) is installed and drivers are current. Surely there is some magical combination of pre-render settings or XML tweaks or other hokus
